S2 E8 - Mother Gia Garcon

In this episode of Beyond the Runway, host, Enyce Smith, interviews the beautiful Mother of Garcon, Gia. Professionally trained by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Company, Gia brings a legendary name to the House and Ball scene with her incredible dance background and natural abilities for modeling. She was the first ever-male captain of her high school cheerleading squad, and while she has faced adversity at times, it has only strengthened her resolve. Gia enjoys being underestimated, so she can prove herself by coming to full realization of dreams and natural born talents and thereby earning the community’s respect. She credits  growing up in Compton and her grueling dance career, to being able to tolerate a multitude of personalities and sometime taunts, especially since she has a prominent scar on her face, but that just adds to the list of personal regards that do not effect her. Gia’s humble and open nature is a mantra she stands by especially after she underwent her transition from male to female.
